This is my first blog ever so bare with me :]
This is a blog that will keep all my friends, family and church family posted throughout my summer living in Haiti.
I have the amazing opportunity to live in Haiti as a Mission of Hope intern under the direction of Mr. Kyle Reschke. Kyle Reschke is currently living in Haiti as a fully supported missionary from my home church, Frazer United Methodist Church in Montgomery, AL. Kyle Reschke and myself will be working daily with the deaf community setup in Leveque, Haiti.

I have already been on two previous mission trips to Haiti with mission teams from Frazer in October 2011 and February 2012. I am excited for this adventure because I will be able to be immersed in Haitian Sign Language.
As some of you well know, I am currently a Senior at Troy University in the Interpreters Training Program. This program is developed so that students can become the best interpreters for the deaf and change the profession of interpreting. Living in Haiti will allow me to interact with all of the deaf leaders and families and grow in my sign language skills.
I am going to try to keep this blog as updated as possible. Please comment and ask questions! If you are wanting to know a specific thing that I am doing over the summer please don't hesitate to ask :]

ReplyDeleteI am excited for you!!! I know Haitian speak French if I am correct? You can tell what Deaf people down there use? ASL or FSL? Just curious! Thank you for creating this blog, so that way all of us can keep tabs on you! We are rooting for you all the way!
